This topic describes microsites, personas, and user roles.

Microsites

A Microsite is separate, self-contained site within a main or parent site. Microsites can be used to support segmented websites, as well as group or customer-specific stores. Because Microsites live within the context of the main or parent site, their URL bridges off of the main or parent sites - such as HTTP://www.parenturl.com/Microsite/.

The Microsite strategy relies on the idea of synergy. Microsites are helpful for consolidating content and keeping relevance all in one spot. One advantage available to microsites is that the Microsite will inherit statistics such as a high PageRank, TrustRank, and Domain authority from your main site for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Microsites also benefit from strong internal and cross linking.

Microsites also keep everything together, so that reports (such as Google Analytics) are in one spot and easy to manage. Finally, architecture, navigation and design scheme are consistent, leading to an aesthetically consistent user experience.

Personas

Personas allow greater control over the presentation of content to your users. When you use a persona, you can specify specific criteria using the Rules Engine to designate the most appropriate persona to the user in question. This designated persona will then serve as a guide to the content that displays on the website.

Note

At this time, Personas are only used to deliver different content, and can be used as a Promotion rule. Personas DO NOT map to or feed into the Shipping Engine.

User roles

User roles and permissions manage access and capabilities within the Admin Console and the website. B2B Commerce Cloud uses role-based security to provide users the permission to access specific areas in the Admin Console and website. Roles are also used to permit users the ability to act on behalf of other users.
