Search configuration

CMS administrators and developers can configure Optimizely CMS search providers. Customize global search results by enabling or disabling default providers like blocks, files, and pages.

📘

Note

This topic is for CMS administrators and developers with administrative access rights.

Search configuration determines which content types appear in CMS global search results. Administrators tune the providers so editors find blocks, files, and pages without irrelevant noise. Administrator access in CMS 13 is required to change these settings.

Use Search Configuration to control which content types the CMS global search bar returns results for.

Go to SettingsTools > Search Configuration to set the search providers for your site. This configuration allows you to change the type of results the CMS global search bar returns.

CMS uses Optimizely Graph as its default internal search engine. Turn off a provider to exclude it from search results. Disabling a provider removes that content type from the results returned by the global search bar in the CMS editor interface. Content remains accessible through the content tree. The following providers are available by default:

  • Shared Blocks (from CMS) – Searches for CMS shared blocks.
  • Files (from CMS) – Searches for CMS documents.
  • Pages (from CMS) – Searches for CMS pages (including page content).
  • Jump to – Return menu items that IMenuProvider defined.
  • Shared Blocks (from Graph) – Searches for shared blocks from Optimizely Graph.
  • Files (from Graph) – Searches for documents from Optimizely Graph
  • Pages (from Graph) – Searches for pages from Optimizely Graph

Optimizely Search & Navigation is not compatible with CMS 13.
