To provide a more consistent language experience, Optimizely <<product-name>> makes it possible to translate both Product Variants and Attributes to display the chosen language. Use the following instructions to update Variants and Attributes.
## Change the language for variants
The following steps are provided under the assumption that Variants already exist. For more information on Variant Types and setting them up, refer to the [Product Configuration articles](🔗).
Go to **Admin Console** \> **Administration** \> **Translation Dictionary**
Search for the Variant Types (**Source** value is "StyleTrait").
Click **More Options** and choose **Generate Records** to ensure that all options are listed.
Click **Edit** adjacent to the desired Variant; or, if multiple Variants will be modified, select one or more checkboxes and then click the **Edit** button in the **Secondary Toolbar**.
In the **Language** field, choose the desired language.
In the **Translation** field, enter the translated Variant name.
Click **Save** or **Save and Next .**
Rebuild the **Product Search Index**:
In the **Primary Navigation**, click **Marketing** \> **Search** \> **Indexing**.
Click **Full Rebuild** for the Product Search Index.
Note
You may need to clear the Application Cache within the Admin Console in order to see the updated translations. Select the **Debug** in the **Primary Toolbar** and select **Clear Cache**. The Debugging tool is only available to users assigned ISC_System or ISC_Implementer roles.
## Change the language for attributes
The following steps are provided under the assumption that Attributes already exist. For more information on Attributes and setting them up, refer to the [Product Configuration articles](🔗).
Go to **Admin Console** \> **Administration** \> **Translation Dictionary**
Search for the Attribute Types (**Source** value is "Attribute").
Click **More Options** and choose **Generate Records** to ensure that all options are listed.
Click **Edit** adjacent to the desired Attribute; or, if multiple Attribute Types will be modified, select one or more check boxes and then click **Edit** in the **Secondary Toolbar**.
In the **Language** field, choose the desired language.
In the **Translation** field, enter the translated Attribute name.
Click **Save** or **Save and Next.**
Rebuild the **Product Search Index**:
In the **Primary Navigation**, click **Marketing** \> **Search** \> **Indexing**.
Click **Full Rebuild** for the Product Search Index.
